First some Plain English:
The Humane Society of Pinellas
invites supporters to enter its 2019 Calendar Photography Competition. You must
read the following rules, terms and conditions before submitting any
The HSP Photography Competition (the "Contest") is open to ALL who are at least 18 years of age, or under 18 with the consent of their parent/guardian, except direct employees of HSP. The Contest is open to all participants regardless of residence or citizenship, so long as the laws of their jurisdiction allow participation.
What to Enter
Our contest is broad in its quest: we are looking for great pictures of your pet(s) (just pets please)! Show us what demonstrates your idea of “a Great Pet Photo”. There is no limit to the number of images you may enter, each requires a separate entry. Each photo must be less than 8Mb in size and in “JPG” format. You may then ask your families and friends to vote for your photo – each vote will improve your chances of winning! We will love to see any photo you have and of course fuzzy or blurry photos will not look very well - we reserve the right to refund the entry fee for any photos deemed of insufficient quality to be able to publish in the calendar.
Entrants must not submit images that involve the willful harassment of people or wildlife, damage to the environment or property by the photographer, the taking of risks, “inappropriate” or otherwise objectionable material or images including material that infringes on the rights of any other photographer or person, as defined by HSP in its sole discretion. Images that do not meet these requirements may or may not be judged at HSP and or the judging panel's sole discretion.
Photo captions must accompany all submissions and be included when the photograph is uploaded to the contest site.
HSP has final approval of any caption language that appears on its web site with any of the photos and will not promote or endorse unauthorized third-party products or services.
How to Enter
Each photo must be submitted electronically by the following method:
1) Create a Username – which should be your email address. This way we can contact you if you win a prize and you will have a login when returning to the site to view photos that you submit and are submitted by others.
Payment by credit card in a secured payment screen
(our contest provider, “MulaBula, LLC” will appear on your credit card bill!)
3) Upload your photo
4) Email your family and friends to vote for your photo and increase your chances of winning!
That’s it. Then you can “Enter Again”, invite your friends, or view the submitted photos.
Eligibility and Judging
To ensure eligibility for the contest, entries must have a JPG file size of less than 8 megabytes or less. Images that are larger than 8 megabytes are not able to be uploaded or entered into the contest via the website. For assistance with oversized files, please email email@example.com.
Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant us a license (see "Your Rights" below). You must be able to disclose when and where the photo appeared previously upon request.
Every photo entered in the contest will be voted on by contestants and the general public. While it is difficult to predict the exact criteria used by the public to vote for a photo, it is common for the public to use the following criteria which will also be used by HSP in the event of any “top 12” photos that receive the same number of votes.
Images will be judged on originality, the emotional character (how loving, happy, kind, funny, interesting) of the photo, overall impact and artistic merit. Voting requires a $1 per vote payment and a minimum of 5 votes. At the end of the contest, the top 12 most popular photographs as determined by total votes will be awarded as contest winners. Contestants can solicit votes for each image submitted to increase their chances of winning. The Humane Society of Pinellas shall determine in what order to display the 12 winners in the calendar.
In the event of a tie where more than one photo receives the same number of votes and is in the “top 12” of all voting totals per photo, final judging (tie-breaking) will be performed by the Humane Society of Pinellas.
HSP shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judge(s) are final. Winners will be notified by email. Winners that do not respond to this notification within seven (7) days or whose email address is invalid will be removed from the winner’s award list and a new winner selected in their place.
The contest begins on July 1st, 2018 and ends on September 1st, 2018 at 8pm local Clearwater, Florida time.
Entrants may be asked to submit a paragraph about the story behind the photo anytime on or after entry. The Prize Winners will be announced on or before thirty (30) days after the contest entry deadline. HSP reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes either within or beyond its immediate control.
The 12 selected winners: each wins a professional photo shoot by a Professional Photographer for the submitted pet. To ensure quality and consistence, all winning pet models must be available for professional photo session within 2 weeks of contest close. The result of this session will provide the featured photo used. If an unfortunate situation occurs where this is not possible, a plaque will be made and displayed recognizing your pet for 1 calendar year in lieu of contest winnings. Said prize will be provided to the next winner according to contest rules.
A photo from the professional photo session will be chosen as either the cover or monthly calendar page in our exclusive 2019 Celebration of Companionship Calendar benefiting the Humane Society of Pinellas. The winners will also be given a free calendar.
All other entries: Your submitted photo WILL appear somewhere in the 2019 Celebration of Companionship Calendar.
